Padvalakayi 65 (podalagai fry/snakegourd fritters)
Snake gourd though a highly nutritious is a vegetable which many children dont like. A versatile vegetable which can be used to make sambar, kootu, pallya, sihi etc.
Here is an easy recipe to make crispy snakegourd fritters.
Ingredients:
Padvalakai (snakegourd) - 4 medium
Rice flour - 4 tbsp
Besan - 4 tbsp
Corn flour - 3 tbsp
Red chilli powder - 2 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Salt for taste
Oil for frying
Method:
Wash the snake gourd and scrape through the skin. Cut the snake gourd into vertical half.. Remove the seeds. Then cut it into thin round slices. In a wide mouthed bowl take this   and add rice flour, corn starch and besan. To this
Addd the red chilli powder, garam masala and coriander powder. Add ginger garlic paste as well and salt for taste. Mix ot well.
Now add water little by little. Remember that snake gourd also leaves water.
There should be a thin coating of batter on the snake gourd.
Heat the oil. Put each slice one by one and fry it in medium flame. Fry till golden brown.
Serve hot
