Sabudana kichadi

Sabudana kichadi - This is a Maharastrian recipe usually had during fasting. It is made using sago grains and potatoes as main ingredients. In the recipe I have given tips to make non sticky kichadi.
Ingredients (1 cup = 200 mg)
Sabudana - 1 cup
Green chilli - 2
Roasted Peanut - 1/2 cup
Ginger - 1/2 inch
Pepper powder - 1 tsp
Potato - 2 medium
Lime - 1/2
Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp of chopped
Salt for taste
Method
Soaking the sago grains - Take the sago grains in a wide mouthed vessel. Add water, wash the sabudana and drain the water. The starch of the sabudana has to be removed. Repeat the process till the drained water is clear. Once done soak the sabudana in 3/4th cup of water for 6 hrs or overnight. Keep this aside
After overnight soaking, you will see that the sago grains have swollen. You can drain fee drops of water from it if any. Squeeze the grains to see if they are soft.
Boil the potatoes, peel the skin and cut them into small pieces.
Take the peanuts in a blender and blend it for a minute. It need not be powdered fully. Few peanut pieces in between will be nice.
In the wide mouthed vessel add the powdered peanut to the sabudana. Add salt for taste and pepper powder. Mix it well.
Take a wide mouthed kadai with ghee. Add the cut potatoes and roast them well. Keep it aside.
In the same kadai, take a tsp of ghee. Add a tsp of jeera and allow it to splutter. Add the chopped green chilli and ginger. Saute it for a while. Add the sabudana peanut mix. Sprinkle some water and allow it to boil. Saute it in between. In about 5 minutes the sabudana will be cooked. You will see the sabudana becoming translucent. Add the roasted potatoes and mix well. Add salt if needed. Remove from heat and add chopped coriander leaves and squeeze the lemon juice. Mix well and serve hot
