Halasina hannina mulka (Appa)

Halasina hannina mulka (Appa) - This is Mangalore style recipe made with jackfruit. It is a sweet fritter which is deep fried. If you don't want to deep fry, you can cook them in the guliappa/paniyaram pan (the dosa pan with holes). This is crunchy on outside and soft inside and very yummy.
Ingredients
Jackfruit - deseeded and chopped - 2 cups
Rice - 1 cup soaked for 2 to 3 hours
Coconut - grated 1/2 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup adjust according to your taste and sweetness of jackfruit
Salt - a pinch
Oil for deep frying
Method
The rice has to be soaked for 3 to 4 hours. After soaking, drain the water completely.
Cut the jackfruit, deseed it and cut it into smaller pieces.
Take the rice, jackfruit, coconut and jaggery in a blender and grind it into smooth mix. No need to add water as jackfruit leaves water. If you add water the mix becomes watery and difficult to fry.
Add a pinch of salt.
Heat oil in a pan. When the oil is heated, drop small lemon sized balls in the oil. Fry in medium or low flame. Fry till golden brown. Remove from oil and enjoy either hot or cold.
