Jaljeera

Jaljeera - It is a refreshing drink popular mostly in North India during summers. I didn't know the recipe to prepare jaljeera, I referred lots of recipes before I made this. Jaljeera literally means cumin water. It should be tangy with a hint of sweet. It has digestive properties and therefore good for health.
Ingredients
Mint leaves (pudina) - 1/2 cup loosely packed
Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup loosely packed
Tamarind - 1 tbsp soaked in water
Lime - 1 medium sized
Jeera - 2 tbsp
Pepper - 10 to 12 (you can also use pepper powder instead)
Ginger - 1 inch
Sugar - 3 tsp
Rock salt - 2 tsp or as per your taste
Water as required.
Method
Dry roast the cumin seeds. In a blender take the mint leaves, coriander leaves, ginger, peppercorns and roasted cumin seeds. Add little water and grind it into a fine puree/paste. Strain the puree and keep it aside.
Extract tamarind paste and discard the seeds and other impurities.
Mix the tamarind extract and the puree.
Add rock salt, sugar and the juice of the lime. Add water if needed. (Or ice).
Refrigerate before serving.

1. You can add some boondi before serving.
2. You can add asafoetida also
3. Instead of lime, aamchur powder can be added.
4. It can be served in between meals as it has good digestive properties
