Paneer tikka

Paneer Tikka - This is a very tasty dish usually served as starter. Paneer is marinated in curds with spices and then grilled traditionally. I have made this paneer Tikka on tawa. You can also make this using an oven.
Ingredients
Paneer - 250 gms cut into cubes
Tomato - 1 medium sized
Onion - 2 medium sized
Capsicum - 1 medium sized
For the marinade
Thick curds or yogurt - 1 cup
Besan powder - 3 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Green chilli paste - 2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 3 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1 tsp
Ajwain seeds - 1/2 tsp
Salt for taste
Method
Preparation for paneer Tikka - Cut the paneer into cubes. Cut the onions into cubes and separate the layers. Cut the capsicum into cubes and deseeded them. Cut the tomato into cubes.
Preparation of marinade - In a small seasoning kadai, roast the besan powder. When it is roasted (the raw smell should go) add the oil and roast it for a minute. Remove from heat and keep aside. In a large bowl take thick curds (you can hang the curds or use yogurt) and add the besan oil mix. Add all the spice powders as given in "for the marinade". Add salt and mix well. Add the cubed paneer, capsicum, onions and tomatoes. Allow it to marinate for 2 to 3 hrs in fridge.
Take a well seasoned griddle (dosa tawa). Non stick pan is not very good for trying this. Coat the phone and veggies with marinade and place it on the tawa. Add about 3 tbsp of oil and shallow fry it.
Turn it over when one side gets brown. The paneer cooks faster than the veggies. You can even do this batchwise, meaning first all the paneer, then capsicum, then tomato.
When both sides are done, take a skewer and skew the paneer and veggies. You can also use a wooden toothpick. If you don't have both, serve it just like that after sprinkling done chat powder on it.

1. It is important that the tawa us well seasoned. You can cut a onion dip it in oil and spread the oil on hot tawa. It gets seasoned well.
