Pesarattu

Pesarattu dosa - This is a dosa like recipe. Speciality of Andra. Doesn't need fermentation.
Green gram - 1 cup
Onion - 1 medium sized
Garlic - 10 - 12 cloves
Ginger - about 1 inch long
Green chilli - 2 - 3
Salt - for taste
Serving suggestion
Butter/ ghee
1 finely chopped onion
Method
Soak the green gram overnight or for 5 to 6 hours. Grind all the ingredients in a mixie without adding much water. Your dosa batter is ready. There is no need of fermentation. Heat the dosa tawa and make dosa. Before removing dosa from heat add chopped onions and ghee or butter. Serve hot.
The traditional pesarattu dosa is served with uppittu in between the dosa. ( Like the masala in masala dosa)
You can make the dosa more nutritious by sprouting the green gram. Soak it for about an hour and then tie it in a damp thin cloth and hang it.
