Onion sasimi
Sasimi means sasive (mustard) in tulu. This is a dish served with rice in South canara region. Very simple to prepare and quite tasty.
Onion - 1 medium sized (chopped)
Coconut - 100 gms
Mustard seeds - 3 tbsp
Red chilli - 3
Tamarind paste - 2 tbsp
Salt - for taste
For seasoning
Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - few
Red chilli - 1
Method
In a blender, take coconut, mustard seeds, red chilli, salt and tamarind paste. Grind it finely. Add the chopped onions and grind just little. The onions should not be fine paste. Keep it in a bowl
In the seasoning kadai take coconut oil and heat it. Add mustard seeds and red chilli. Allow the mustard seeds to spltter. Add this to the grinded mix. Serve with rice
Note : The flavor for this dish comes from the seasoning with coconut oil. Don't use other oil.
