Mandakki oggarane
This is a popular street food in North Karnataka. There this is served along with hot green chili or capsicum bajji. It can be had as breakfast/brunch or as an evening snack.
Mandakki/ puffed rice - 250 gms
Onion - 2 medium finely chopped
Green chilli - 3 finely chopped
Lemon - 1
Groundnut - 4 tbsp
Coriander and curry leaves - finely chopped
Putani kadale powder - 3 tbsp (optional)
Salt - for taste
Seasoning
Mustard seeds - 1/2  tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Oil
Method
Roast the groundnut and keep it aside. Wash the mandakki in a big bowl. The mandakki will soften but it should not be mushy. Squeeze it so as to remove the water and keep it.
In a pan, take oil, add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Add chana dal and urad dal and allow it to be golden brown. Add the onions and saute them. It should be golden brown in colour. Add the green chillies, roasted peanuts. Now add the washed mandakki. Heat it for a while, just so that the mandakki is hot. Add salt for taste. Add the curry leaves and coriander leaves. Now add the powdered putani kadale.  Remove from the flame and Squeeze the lemon to this. Mix well. Serve hot.
