Lemon saaru

Lemon saaru (rasam)
This is a simple saaru recipe. It can be served with rice or served as soup as well.

Ingredients
Lemon - 1 medium sized
Toor dal - 1/4 cup boiled
Green chilli - 2 slit into half
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Ginger - grated 1 tsp
Salt - for taste
Coriander leaves - 1 tsp finely chopped
For seasoning
Ghee - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Asofoetida - a pinch
Method
In a vessel take some water with turmeric powder. Heat it. Add green chilli, ginger and salt. Allow it to boil. Just before removing it from flame, add the lemon juice and coriander leaves.
In a small kadai take ghee and keep it on the flame. Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Add asofoetida and currently leaves. Add this to the lemon saaru. Serve it hot with rice.
Note: if you want to serve it as soup don't add the dal, instead add 1 tsp of coriander powder. The soup will be yummy.
