Chutney pudi

Chutney pudi
This is ideally served as a side dish for idli and dosa. Usually Sesame seed oil is added to this pudi and mixed.
Urad dal - 1 cup
Channa dal ( bengal gram dal)- 1 cup
Putani kadale (roasted bengal gram) - 1 cup
Kopra grated (dried coconut) - 1 cup
Red chilli - 1 cup (guntur variety for the spice)
Red chilli - 1 and half cup (byadgi variety for the red colour)
Curry leaves - 1 cup
Tamarind - lemon sized cut into small pieces
Jaggery - 3 tbsp
Asofoetida - 3 tbsp
Salt - for taste
Oil - 3 tbsp
Method
Dry roast all the ingredients separately in a thick bottomed kadai except red chilli. Roast the red chilli with 3 tbsp of oil. Allow it to cool in a big mouthed vessel.
Mix it well. Grind it in a blender/ mixie till it becomes a fine powder. Add salt and asofoetida.
Mix it well. Allow it to cool and store it in a dry container.
Note : all the ingredients should be dry. Also the blender and vessel which you use to make chutney pudi.
