Chana sundal

Chana sundal
This is a very simple snack prepared in South India especially Tamil Nadu. It is prepared during Ganesh Chaturthi, Krishna Janmastami and Navaratri and served as prasadam. I have made this using white chick peas. It can be prepared using black chick peas, groundnut, bengal gram, green gram etc.
Ingredients
White chana - 1 cup (soaked overnight)
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Asofoetida - 1 pinch
Curry leaves - a few
Dried Red chilli - 2 to 4
Grated coconut - 3 to 4 tbsp
Salt - for taste
Oil - 2 tsp
Method
Boil the white chana in pressure cooker with 1 tsp of salt and 3 to 4 cups of water. Cook it until soft. Drain the water. Take a kadai and heat oil in it. Add mustard seeds and wait it to splutter. Add urad dal and heat it till it becomes red. Add red chilli and asofoetida. Add the boiled white chana and salt. Saute it for about 5 minutes. Switch off the flame and add the grated coconut. Stir well. It can be eaten as snack or as side dish with chapati.
