Jeera rice

Jeera rice - A very simple recipe which goes very well with Indian gravies and dal. Usually basmati rice is used to make this recipe, but I have done even using other good quality rice like Sona massuri.
Ingredients
Rice -2 cups (boiled see the method)
Jeera - 4 tbsp
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Green Chilli - 1 finely chopped
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp finely chopped
Salt - for taste
Method
For boiling rice
If you are using basmati rice, soak it for half hour. Any other rice, no need to soak. The ratio should be 1 rice: 2 water. Add a pinch of salt, a tsp of oil and a tsp of lemon juice. You can cook in rice cooker or pressure cooker (1 whistle). The grains will be separate because of addition of oil and lemon juice. Let the rice cool
Take a kadai and heat ghee. Add bay leaves and cumin seeds. When it splitters add the chopped green chillies and salt. Remove the kadai from the heat and mix the rice. Remove the bay leaf before serving. It goes well with dal or palak curries

Note:
You can also add chopped onions. For that you will have to add the chopped onions first, saute it till it becomes transparent and then add the jeera.
Many recipes add cinnamon, clove etc. I don't like adding so much flavours. If you don't mind then you can add them along with bay leaves.
