Nellikayi chitranna (Gooseberry rice)

Nellikayi rice - Nellikayi or gooseberry is a rich source of vitamin C. Nellikayi chitranna is a very good tiffin lunch. It can be made quickly and tastes very good.
Ingredients
Cooked rice - 1 and half bowl
Salt for taste
For grinding
Nellikayi (gooseberry) - 5 to 6 big sized
Green chilli - 3 to 4
Grated coconut - 5 tbsp
For tempering
Gingely oil - 3 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 2 tsp
Chana dal - 2 tsp
Peanuts - 15 to 20
Method
Clean and chop the gooseberry. Deseed them. In an blender grind these gooseberries along with cut green chillies and grated coconut. You need not add water. Grind coarsely. Keep it aside.
Spread the cooked rice in a plate and allow it to cool.
In a kadai take gingely oil and roast the peanut. Once it is roasted add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter. Add chana dal and urad dal and roast them till golden brown. Remove the kadai from heat. Add the cooked rice and the ground mix. Add salt for taste.
You can serve this with cucumber raita.
Tips - while making rice for any mixed rice like this add a pinch of salt and few drops of oil to rice before cooking.
Also add a little less water than you usually do. Like for rice I follow the ratio of 1:2. But for mixed rice for 1 cup of raw rice I add 1 and 3/4 cup water only
